X-frame chair:An X-shaped, often folding structure was used to support this type of chair or stool. Also referred to as a curule, Dagobert chair, Dante chair, Savonarola chair or scissors chair. It was known to have existed in ancient Egypt and later in Greece and Rome. The most notable example of this type of chair is the alleged chair of King Dagobert I (603–639 AD), now in the Louvre. It is thought to be the oldest existing example of European furniture. The chair is of cast bronze and partially gilt. It was made originally on the principle of the Egyptian X-shaped stool.
