19th Century French Louis XVI Style Painted Commode Sauteuse
A 19th century French Louis XVI style painted commode sauteuse handcrafted in the South of France near Gordes, circa 1890s. Having a new distressed paint finish, this handsome French chest of drawers, also referred to as a "jumping commode" because of its long legs and two large drawers, features a rectangular plank top over a simple facade showcasing two full length drawers. Raised on tapered legs connected to one another through a carved dentil mold apron. With its clean lines and weathered appearance, this antique French commode will make for a great addition to any room. The scale of the drawers ensures an ample amount of storage wherever this chest is placed. Elegant yet unpretentious, this neoclassical French commode is a wonderful addition to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
