19th Century French Oval Cherry Vendange or Wine Tasting Tilt-Top Table
19th century French vendange or wine tasting table handcrafted of solid cherry near Bordeaux, having an oval four plank tilt-top and raised on a trestle base with sledge feet and butterfly wedge support, circa 1880s. These French wine tables were originally used in the vineyards for the workers to have lunch, and if someone happened to stop by they would be offered a glass of wine. When not in use, this handsome vintner's table would have been folded and stored in the barn. Beloved by both wine connoisseurs and novices alike, wine tasting tables are functional and very versatile pieces of furniture that can be easily folded for transport or storage and placed against a wall with the top in a vertical position as a space saving option. Perfect for use in a wine cellar, breakfast area, apartment, or small space.
