A superb 19th century French Country Louis XV style painted walnut chateau buffet à deux corps handcrafted in walnut by a highly skilled ébéniste in Provence with a beautiful bluish gray painted finish showing some wood, circa 1850s. Crowned with a moulded cornice above a carved frieze and boasting a pair of carved, recessed panel doors with deep curvilinear carvings that open to reveal a spacious interior with three shelves. The lower buffet features the same raised and recessed panel doors that open to reveal a single interior shelf. Short carved cabriole legs support the carved, scalloped apron that features a center shell and foliate motif. Original iron hardware. Unmistakably French, this charming antique French buffet deux corps is perfect for storing china, glassware, serving pieces, silver, and so much more.
