19th Century French Louis XVI Style Mahogany Bureau Plat or Desk with Ormolu Trim
A fine late 19th century French Louis XVI style bureau plat or desk handcrafted of mahogany with ormolu trim by talented artisans in Paris, circa 1890s. Having the original inset cognac leather writing surface with embossed gilding, this beautiful antique French desk has ormolu trim wrapping the top and features gilt brass trim adorning the drawers and frieze. Raised on tapered, fluted legs with gilt brass bagues ending in brass sabots. Fully finished on all sides with a fresh French polish that allows the beautiful aged patina to shine. This neoclassical writing table works with traditional or modern decor and can float in any room.
