A pair of framed hand colored lithographs of hanging game birds by French artist Édouard Traviès titled La Perdrix Grise, nº 14 (The Gray Pheasant) and La Perdrix Rouge nº 13 (The Red Pheasant) from La Vénerie Souvenir de Chasses.
Édouard Traviès de Villers (Doullens 1809-1876 Paris), a French watercolorist, lithographer, and illustrator, was one of the best known French ornithologists or bird illustrators of the 19th century. His activity in this field culminated in 79 magnificent illustrations for his book Les oiseaux les plus remarquables par leurs forms et leurs couleurs, published in Paris and London in 1857. He regularly exhibited works at the Paris Salon, the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, between 1831 and 1866.
