Early 19th Century French Country Louis XV Style Oak Garde Manger or Food Pantry
Early 19th century French Country Louis XV style garde manger handcrafted of solid oak in the Normandie region, circa 1810. The upper cabinet has a plank top with canted corners over a pair of molded panel doors flanking a small center drawer. The lower open storage area features open slats. Raised on short cabriolet legs. This versatile one-piece "keeper of the food" would have been used to store food much in the same way as our American pie safe or pantry. A charming provincial cabinet perfect for displaying and storing your favorite dishes, linens, books, or games with lower open storage for fruits and veggies, pots and pans, or blankets. It would also be great storage in a powder room or mud room.
