Early 19th French Century Louis XVI Style Solid Walnut Commode Sauteuse
An early 19th century Louis XVI style commode sauteuse handcrafted in Lyon, the capital city in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, circa 1820. This handsome chest of drawers, also referred to as a "jumping commode" because of its long legs and two large drawers, features a shaped, moulded top above two long carved drawers of break-front form with original neoclassical circular brass handles and ribbon escutcheons. Fluted apron raised on tapering fluted legs. A fresh French polish allows the beautiful, rich patina to shine.
