Large 19th Century Spanish Semi Glazed Terracotta Olive Jar with Handles
A large antique 19th century traditional Spanish terracotta orza or olive jar handmade in the province of Tarragona in the Catalonia region, circa 1880s. This beautiful jar features a dark caramel interior glaze with a semi-glazed exterior having four handles, circular striations around the neck and rim, and dark green and caramel drips. The areas where the glaze has dripped onto the body of the vessel adds to its unique patina. Used to preserve olive oil, this antique earthenware preserving pot has a rich patina that only years of use and the weather can create. A perfect choice for the garden or use as a decorative vessel indoors. A wonderful addition to any pottery collection.
