A handsome 19th century French Louis Philippe style bibliothèque or bookcase handcrafted of flame mahogany by talented artisans near Lyon, circa 1880s. The upper bookcase has a moulded cornice with canted corners above a pair of three-quarter glass paneled doors with original antique hand blown glass that open to reveal four adjustable interior shelves. The lower cabinet, deeper in proportions, is constructed of two moulded panel drawers above paneled doors that lock and conceal a single shelf. Resting on a plinth base ending in turned bun feet. Original hardware. A beautiful and rich patina accents the timeless design and simple, elegant lines of the Louis Philippe period, allowing this handsome antique cabinet to mix flawlessly with other periods and styles.
