Large Pair of 19th Century Carved French Oak Hunting Trophy Plaques of Dead Game Birds
A fine pair of 19th century French oak hunting trophy plaques depicting intricately carved hanging dead game birds, a pheasant on the left and a bécasse or woodcock on the right, circa 1880s. These large fruits of the hunt plaques are each carved from a solid piece of oak and feature superb carving with excellent detail, especially the feathers and curved, decorative rocaille motifs, all done in raised relief. They have a nice aged patina and display beautifully. Perfect for a hunting lodge, game room, or library.
