A handsome 18th century Country French Directoire period settee or radassier handcrafted in solid cherry near Marseille in the South of France, circa 1790s. This double arm bench seats three and features a handwoven rush seat, ladder-back, and torchiere carvings, a typical neoclassical element popular during the Directory-Restauration and Empire periods, heading graceful curved arms. Raised on four tapered front legs and four saber back legs. This antique bench would be equally at home in a countryside chateau or a tastefully designed modern home. Perfect for an entryway, mud room, kitchen, or the foot of a bed.
