19th Century French Yellow Ware Preserving Jar or Pot a Oreilles
Lovely 19th century French yellow ware pot à oreilles or preserving jar with ears or handles from the alpine region of Haute-Savoie in southeast France, having a pale yellow glaze inside and out with just the base left unglazed, circa 1890s. Traditional preserving jars like this one were used in French kitchens to store jams and conserves. The lip at the top of the jar was for fastening a fabric cover. A wonderful addition to any collection, this French confit jar is perfect for use as a utensil holder. It's also great for flowers or herbs, or grouped together with other confit pots for display on a shelf or counter in your kitchen to add a touch of French Country charm to your home. We have a large selection of antique French pottery. Contact us for more pictures or information.
