Antique French Cruche Orjol or Water Jug with Mustard Yellow Glaze
Antique French water jug or cruche orjol from the Languedoc region in southwest France, having a bright mustard yellow glaze and two beautifully arched handles that rise above the opening with the spout formed into the handle on one side, circa 1870s. This charming orjol is fully glazed unlike other cruches or gargoulettes and was a specialty of the region, now contained in the modern-day region of Occitanie. The beautiful patina of this antique water pitcher has slowly developed with the passage of time and with the help of the hot sun in the south of France. The imperfections are a testament to its utilitarian history and frequent use. A classic French water jug that's very collectible. We have a large selection of antique French pottery.
