Fine Pair of 18th Century French Louis XV Period Carved Walnut Fauteuils
A fine pair of carved 18th century Louis XV period fauteuils handcrafted in Lyon of solid walnut, circa mid-1700s. Featuring a shaped back with a crest of finely carved floral and foliate motifs and elegant scrolling arms with carved acanthus plumes tapering to join the carved apron decorated with similar carved motifs as the back crest. Resting on four graceful cabriole legs having carved acanthus at the knees and feet terminating in scrolled toes. These lovely arm chairs boast a beautiful wood grain and warm patina. Ready for everyday use, the chairs are very solid and sturdy and the upholstery is in very good condition.
