Grand 19th Century Heavily Carved French Louis XV Style Rococo Giltwood Mirror
Grand 19th century French Louis XV style Rococo giltwood mirror handcrafted by skilled artisans in Lyon, circa 1870s. With its grand proportions and striking carved decor, this exquisite mirror features a moulded frame with canted corners having red oxidation show through the beautiful water gilded patina that is original to the piece. It's adorned with an elaborately carved pierced crest with richly carved floral garlands draping on each side. Acanthus leaves flank the lower portion of the mirror. The unique appearance of the original mirror glass adds charm and character that is impossible to achieve with new mirror glass. This French Rococo style mirror will be a great focal point in any room, perhaps placed above an enfilade, console table, or chest of drawers.
