19th Century Restauration Period Three-Drawer Walnut Commode
Handsome 19th century commode handcrafted of solid walnut during the French Restauration period, having three drawers and the original brass hardware, circa 1820s. Raised on bracket feet. The Restauration period followed the demise of Napoleon in 1814 and lasted until the July Revolution of 1830. When Louis XVI's brothers came into power they introduced a more conservative version of the Empire style. This simple provincial commode has a wonderful patina and fresh French polish, and mixes well with modern or traditional decor.
