Antique 19th Century French Yellow Ware Preserving Jar
Antique 19th century French yellow ware preserving jar from the alpine region of Haute-Savoie in southeast France, having a pale yellow glaze inside and out with just the base left unglazed. Traditional preserving jars like this one were used in French kitchens to store jams and conserves. The lip at the top of the jar was for fastening a fabric cover. A fantastic addition to any collection, these classic French pots are great for serving mustard, jams, olives, or other condiments on a charcuterie board. Use them as utensil holders, to hold flowers or herbs, or simply group them together for display on a shelf or counter in your kitchen to add a touch of French Country charm to your home. We have a large selection of antique French pottery. Contact us for more pictures or information.
