19th century French Louis Philippe style commode handcrafted of solid walnut with a bookmatched walnut front. This handsome commode features four fitted long drawers resting upon shaped feet. The top drawer having a wood escutcheon and key with the three drawers below having a pair of circular pulls with a center wood escutcheon that identifies the keyhole. Not only decorative, the escutcheons also protect the wood from the iron key when it is inserted into the lock. This refined commode from Deauville, a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France, retains its beautiful rich, original color and patina and has a fresh French polish. The strong, bold lines of Louis Philippe pieces make them an easy fit into an existing home and allow them to mix flawlessly with other styles and periods.
