Antique French Cruche or Water Pitcher with Yellow Glaze
A bright yellow glazed 19th Century French cruche from Provence having two handles and a spout, circa 1870s. Traditionally used to keep water cool in the house or in the fields, these French pitchers were only half glazed as they would have been stored in the ground. The beautiful warm patina of this antique water pitcher developed over the passage of time and with the help of the hot Provençal sun. The imperfections are a testament to its utilitarian history and frequent use. We have a large selection of antique French confit pots. Contact us for more pictures or information.
