A wonderful and very comfortable set of six classic French Empire style Gondola dining chairs from the Bordeaux region, in solid cherry with a lustrous French polish, circa early 1900s. Each chair is beautifully carved with a curving back having urn form splats flanked by outswept stiles over a seat frame fitted with a conforming, upholstered slip-seat, raised on saber legs. Graceful lines with sturdy construction make these antique dining room chairs an instant favorite. Solid and very sturdy, these antique French chairs, favored by Empress Josephine and used in her dressing room, will last a lifetime.
