Vintage faience asparagus plates by Atelier Cerenne in Vallauris, France. Set of 8 plates with master server dish. Made to serve fresh asparagus with a well for butter or hollandaise sauce. Circa 1940s. These classic Provencal design asparagus plates with scalloped edges are an excellent example of French faience from the old pottery making village of Vallauris, located in the South of France. The small scenic town of Vallauris became world famous when Picasso lived there in the 1940s and 1950s. Majolica from Vallauris is celebrated for its beautiful glazes and extraordinary shapes.
