Petite French Louis XIII style coffer. Circa early 1900's. Solid oak. Raised diamante point (diamond) decoration. Bun feet. Trunks and coffers were the main item of furniture in early French households. It was not uncommon to have a coffer in every room. They functioned as beds for children or very small adults, tables and seats, while keeping all sorts of treasures under lock and key.
