Item # LFA130 Vintage, rustic French pâté terrine. Circa 1950's. Typical French brown and cream glazed terra cotta terrine with lid. Decorative and charming, as well as functional. Marked on bottom. Normandy, France.Pâtés, literally "pastes," are prepared from meat, usually liver, and fat, which can be coarsely or finely ground. They differ from rillettes by being cooked in the oven in the terrine, which is usually set in a baine marie (mary's bath) filled with water to make the cooking process more gentle.
