Handsome French Country Louis XV style pine longcase clock with 8-day comtoise movement. Circa early 1800s. Chapeau de gendarme cornice housing an enameled dial with Roman numerals and stamped brass hands indicating the hours and minutes as well as the days of the month. The clock maker's name of Laporte and á Cougon, the town where it was made, are on the clock face. Pediment fronton of thin repousse depicts a provincial scene of a couple dancing after the wheat harvest. The paneled lower case rests on short cabriole legs. All clocks in working order.
