Finely carved Renaissance style desk or writing table in solid walnut from the Catalan region of Spain, finished on all sides so that it can float in a room, circa 1850. With three intricately carved drawers across the front and a pair of carved, scrolled legs ending in paw feet joined by hand-forged iron stretchers. The solid board rectangular top has a gadrooned edge and a band of foliate carvings with a central grotesque mask. Features a rich, deep patina and a wonderful, antique character.
