Item # LFALO1381
An early and very well crafted Louis XV style floating bureau plat, this fine writing desk is likely a product of the first quarter of the 19th century, perhaps a little earlier. Hand-carved with Regence-inspired artistry from solid French chestnut, featuring original bronze hardware and two large and deep drawers, the right side having a faux front that opens on the side with a writing slide above that can be pulled out to conveniently extend the writing surface. The back, also finished, features three wood panels with a carved apron so the writing table could be placed in the middle of the room. Raised on four stylized cabriole legs ending in an elegant acanthus carved foot. Excellent condition with beautiful patina.
