Item # LFALO1544
A fine 19th century French Louis XIII style bureau plat with a banded top and beveled edge. This hand-carved solid oak writing table features a single drawer within the carved and beveled apron with floral rosettes on all four sides for easy placement in any room. It is supported on hand-turned barley twist legs, which are connected by matching stretchers, each having a carved finial with the center finial being larger. A fine showcase of craftsmanship, fully finished on all sides, with a wonderful patina. In France, the twisted column or torsade was a major element in furniture design during the reign of King Louis XIII.
