Item # LFALO996
18th century French period Louis XV buffet handcrafted of chestnut, burled chestnut and pearwood in the typical technique mastered by the skilled artisans of Bresse. This beautiful provincial buffet features a pearwood carcass with a chestnut top and three carved drawers above moulded, paneled doors in burled chestnut with floral and foliate motifs carved in bas relief on the center stile. Carved, shaped apron resting on pieds de biche. A narrow and stylish piece with a lovely patina and lots of character.
The country cabinetmakers of Bresse produced characteristic furniture in the Louis XV style, using contrasting woods. The Bresse region, with its reputation for rich traditional cuisine, produced more buffets and vaisseliers than armoires. Dimensions:
