An exceptional 19th century French Empire period four-drawer commode handcrafted of walnut with a painted finish, circa 1810. Painted in France, this striking bluish gray colored chest of drawers features clean lines and an outstandingly well-patinated finish. The original dark gray breccia marble slab sits atop two half drawers above two full size drawers that are all adorned with original bronze hardware. Flanking the bank of drawers are columns with decorative brass capitals and bases. Raised on tall carved block feet, this strong and masculine antique French Empire chest of drawers has a definitive geometric shape with level surfaces and distinct angles that will make for a great addition to any room. The scale of the drawers ensures an ample amount of storage wherever this beautiful chest is placed.Â
