Item # LFA133 Set of four majolica oyster plates. Circa 1950's. Shaped with six compartments for oysters and one for the lemon or butter. Made by the French potier, Marius Giuge of Vallauris, a famous old pottery making village in the south of France. Marked on back.
Majolica from Vallauris is world renowned for beautiful glazes and extraordinary shapes. These plates feature vibrant shades of brown, yellow and green and are an excellent example of French faïence.
