Transform your office or library into a special place where you can display your priceless book collection, family heirlooms, or sports and hunting trophies just as the French did hundreds of years ago with this grand 19th century French Napoleon III period bibliotheque, handcrafted from select French walnut by talented artisans from the Normandie region. A monumental bookcase such as this one was designed to display fine and rare books (and sometimes sports and hunting trophies) collected by the owner, and to reflect the style and manner of the owner who commissioned its production. The upper bookcase boasts four original glazed panel doors with three adjustable interior shelves. The lower cabinet is fitted with four molded, panel doors that open to a single interior shelf. All raised on a plinth base with block feet. The glass front display and closed storage is both functional and highly decorative.
During the 18th and 19th centuries in France a formal educations was so expensive to come by that the majority of people couldn't afford one. In addition, books, like the bookcases made to store and protect them, were very costly, Therefore, exceptional pieces like this are becoming harder to find. Dimensions:
